MEXICO

Guests onboard a yacht charter in Mexico, have the potential to be purely entertained through endless fiestas and frivolity. Mexico has white-sand beaches and crystalline turquoise waters, but that’s not the only reason why Mexico makes a fantastic place for a yacht charter vacation. The sizzling nightlife, waterfront restaurants and sheer liveliness of towns like Acapulco, gives Mexico a legendary reputation. Mexico is crammed with apposing identities: desert landscapes, snow capped volcanoes, glitzy resorts, timeless colonial towns, ancient ruins, polluted cities and isolated beaches.
Three main yacht charter areas within Mexico are of particular interest: Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez, The Mexican Riviera from Mazatlan to Acapulco and Cancun.

Heading south along North America’s West Coast lays the 1.000 mile Baja Peninsula; a desert paradise famous for its clear water, abundant sea life, and dozens of sheltered remote coves with sandy beaches. The lighting in this arid region is unsurpassed and the sport fishing is world class. The calm, clean waters of the Sea of Cortez shelter the towns of La Paz and Cabo San Lucas.

Mexico’s warm hospitality and distinctive architectural style will enchant you with natural charm. The pueblos of Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, and Acapulco are pearls strung together attracting a chic tourist trade along this coastline.  From La Paz you can cruise to Balandra. Located on the northern side of the La Paz peninsula, this is a great area to swim and snorkel.

Then leave for Isla Partida where snorkeling and diving is a dream around the island, Cardonal and Ensenada Grande. Isla Espiritu Santo is the closest island to the Bay of La Paz and possesses the most stunning views of all the islands in the Sea of Cortéz.  On the north end of Isla Partida is a small group of rock islands, Los Islotes, where you can swim with some friendly seals. There is also an excellent reef dive. Cruising to Isla San Francisco you should see numerous manta ray, seals, thresher sharks.

We advice to spend one day in San Francisco, where the water is quite warm for swimming and the snorkeling is usually excellent. The sandy bottom of the cove is home to thousands of garden eels, and it is fascinating to watch them sink into the sand as you float over them.
Bahia Amortajada is known for its estuary where you can kayak into a mangrove forest. You can also take the tender to Isla Coyote, where you will find a few houses on the rocks, and this area also offers good diving.

The fantastic climate means that Mexico is a great yacht charter location year round, although the most pleasant conditions are generally from October to May. The May-September period can be hot and humid, particularly in the south, but cooling blue waters at your back door, it’s easy enough to cool off.
